The Embassy of Nepal in Paris hosted a function to welcome the visiting delegation of the Federation of the Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The high level 30 member FNCCI delegation is led by Ms. Bhawani Rana, Vice President of FNCCI.
Present on the occasion were, Madam Veronique Roger Lacan, Sous-Director of the French Foreign Ministry as Chief Guest, Members of the delegation, Director of Nepal Tourism Board and Participants at the IFTM Top Rosa Tourism Fair, Ambassadors and Pemanent Delegate of Singapore and Japan, other high ranking diplomats, former French Ambassadors, Travel Agents, Businessmen, President and other officials of NRN, France, Everest Nepal Association, Maison Culture du Nepal, Nepali Ekata Samaj and Tamu Samaj and Long Term Residents, Professionals, prominent French dignitaries, Journalist, and other dignitaries.
Delivering his welcome remarks, His Excellency Mr. Mohan Krishna Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to France said that the Embassy attach great importance to the visit by FNCCI delegation as it is taking place for the time and this visit has added importance in view of the economic diplomacy pursued by the govt.
Ambassador Shrestha elaborated other different attractive aspects of naturally beautiful Nepal from Himalayas to culture to tourism and people's way of life. He further highlighted about the objectives of the economic diplomacy implemented by the government. Mentioning that Nepal offers a very good environment for the promotion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Ambassador Shrestha gave details of the attractive features which is entailed in this policy and informed that the Government has announced 2012-2013 as Investment Promotion Years. He also invited to visit Lumbini and pay homage to Lord Buddha in this celebrated year.
Extolling the age old relations between Nepal and France, Ambassador Shrestha hoped for more intense interactions between Nepalese and French businessmen for mutual benefit in the days to come.
Chief Guest Madam Roger-Lacan while acknowledging the strenuous efforts made by Ambassador Shrestha, since his arrival in France, to bring back to track the bilateral relations, she said that Nepal is once again in the attention list of the French Government. She hoped that relations between our two countries will be further enhanced in many more fields including business interactions.
Madame Rana, leader of the delegation, saying that FNCCI as the apex body of the business and industries, has been playing an important role in the economic development life of the country. She also explained about the prevailing conducive environment for business and FDI promotion in the country.
Mr. George Fischer, Director of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry speaking on the occasion expressed his happiness that such a large and high level delegation from FNCCI is visiting France to explore the business possibilities. He also highlighted about the PCCI's earlier contribution. He further said that PCCI would be extending all possible cooperation for the expansion of business activities between two countries.
Mr. Shyam M. Shrestha, President of Nepal France Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted about the business activities that is taking place between the two countries.
Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for incrementing the bilateral relations. Madame Rana and Mr. Fischer signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations.
At the end of the program, the Embassy of Nepal in Paris, FNCCI, NFCCI and NRN, France also agreed to increase their cooperation to hold a Trade Fair in France next April/May 2013 in line with the economic diplomacy of the government and to promote economic interests of Nepal in France through appropriate ways.
Nepali sumptuous dinner was served to the guests. Playing of Nepali music added more excitement to the program. The CD Rom made by Nepal Tourism Board on Naturally beautiful Nepal gave information feedback to the guests on different beautiful aspects of Nepal.
